  • Paid for a tour guide with grayline. Can't remember her name but she was fantastic. Learned so much. The graves were filled with history. Nicholas Cage had a tomb he bought here, its a pyrimad. It was hit by lightening several times. People put pennies on it bevause he went bankrupt. He bought a notoriously haunted home and went bankrupt. Apparently it's happened to everyone who had owned it. Interesting stuff.

  • I visited the 3 grave sites of Marie Laveau. they say shes in one of three because her daughters also had the same name. I had to pay a local tour guide to walk me thru the cemetery. $5 and she taught me more then what I came for..

It's time to stop thinking of our cemeteries as tourist attractions. They are the final resting places of our families, ancestors and loved ones. The reason the Archdiocese closed off St. Louis Cemetery #1 (which, by the way, has never been public property) is because of the desecration and vandalism. These are not tourist attractions. They are cemeteries.
